Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are a popular non invasive treatment used to rejuvenate skin. Chemicals peels can be a beneficial treatment for patients who have concerns of ageing, oily or acne prone skin, issues with hyperpigmentation or rough or dull skin.
Dr Oke uses Neostrata® ProSystem Rejuvenating Peels which is a highly effective, superficial peeling system. The chemical peel treatment helps to remove the damaged layer of surface skin cells revealing fresh skin, stimulating cell turnover and encouraging antiaging effects in the deeper skin layers. Superficial peels are often referred to as “lunchtime peels” as they have minimal downtime.
NeoStrata® ProSystem uses three different alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs); Glycolic acid, Citric acid and Mandelic acid. AHAs are naturally occurring acids found in fruits and other foods. AHAs help loosen and remove the dead surface layers of skin to exfoliate and smooth skin, as well as provide deeper antiaging effects.
The system offers the flexibility of four Rejuvenating Peel concentrations – 20%, 35%, 50%, 70% Glycolic Acid and two targeted benefit peels for Clarifying and Brightening the skin. This allows Dr Oke to design a treatment program specific to your individual needs.
What are the benefits of a chemical peel?
Following a series of peels- noticeable effects on the skin include:

What will I experience during the peel?
During the peel, you may experience slight discomfort such as stinging, itching, tingling or a warming sensation during the application, however not everyone experiences these sensations.
How long is the healing/recovery time after a peel?s
Often there is no visible healing or recovery time. The skin usually looks and feels normal within a few days to about a week after. You may notice some redness initially and your skin may feel more sensitive from the peel for 1-4 days. You may get minimal shedding. In this time, you should use the post care products provided by Dr Oke. The skin will be more sensitive to sunlight and other sources of UV light, so it is important to wear SPF, avoid sun exposure and avoid tanning beds.
How often can I have a peel?
Chemical Peels can be performed at 3–4-week intervals as long as the skin has fully healed, you may need to wait 4-6 weeks or longer if needed.
Can Chemical Peels be used alongside other treatments?
Yes- Chemical peels can be used to help enhance the results of an at home skin routine. They can used in combination with other treatments to help with anti-ageing.
Can I get booked in straight away?
Prior to having a chemical peel- a consultation appointment is required to assess whether you suitable for the peel, the number of peels required and to discuss the procedure as well as going through a detailed medical history.
In addition, before the peel, you will be provided with a skincare regimen to help prepare the skin.
Facial Aesthetics
Facial Aesthetics can help reduce the signs of aging, help volumize areas and give you a more youthful appearance. At the Maltings Dental Practice, Facial Aesthetic injectable treatments are provided by our Dentist, Miss Oke Oteri. These are minimally invasive, non-surgical procedures including Anti-Wrinkle Treatments and Dermal fillers.
Anti Wrinkle Injections
Anti-Wrinkle treatments are a safe, reliable option to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, to help create a more youthful and relaxed appearance. Botulinum Toxin (Botox), type A is a neurotoxin that temporarily paralyses muscles by blocking nerve impulses. As a result of this, the relaxed muscle can no longer contract and this reduces the appearance fine lines and wrinkles.
The effects last between 3 to 6 months and maintenance treatment significantly reduces recurrence.
The type of Botox Oke is uses is Azzalure®. Botox is effective in treating the upper face.
Areas which can be treated are:
· The Glabellar region- deep folds in between the brows
· Crow’s feet- the lines which form by the side of the eyes
· Forehead lines
Other areas which can be treated are:
· Bunny lines
· Smoker’s lines
· Chin Pebbling
· Gummy Smile
In addition, Botox can be used to reduce sweating in the underarms and used in jaw slimming for people who clench or grind their teeth.
Dermal fillers
Dermal Fillers contain Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural component of the skin. It has viscoelastic properties that help our faces to look full and smooth. As we age and due to sunlight exposure, the levels of HA in our skin decreases, our skin loses hydration, and this creates unwanted folds and signs of aging.
Dermal Fillers can help create a more youthful appearance. By injecting Dermal Fillers into specific areas, dermal fillers can be used to create volume and improve facial contours and smooth out deep folds. They can be used to help define and enhance features.
Oke uses TEOSYAL® and Restylane® products.
The effects last between 6-12 months with noticeable yet subtle changes appearing immediately.
Common treatable areas include:
· Nasolabial folds (nose to mouth folds)
· Marionette lines (mouth to chin lines)
· Lips
· Cheeks
· Chin
· Jaw
· Smoker’s Lines (lines above the lips)
Why have Facial Aesthetics Treatment at the Maltings Dental Practice?
Being a dentist, Oke has acquired an in-depth knowledge of the anatomy of the head and neck and spends a great amount of time giving injections. This allows a dentist to provide treatment to a safe and high standard.
A consultation is required before any treatment is carried out. At this appointment, Oke will ask about the main areas of concerns as well as going through a detailed medical history form. Photographs may be required.
Like all cosmetic treatments, Botox and dermal fillers are not for everyone. At the Maltings Dental Practice, we believe in utilising the procedure to reverse the aging process without making you look fake.
Polynucleotides are an injectable biostimulator which helps improve and rejuvenate the skin. Polynucleotides are one of the latest regenerative medicine advancements in aesthetic medicine, but have been used medically in hospitals for decades to help with burns and wound healing and are backed by extensive clinical data.
As we age, the skin produces less collagen and elastin, which increases signs of aging like wrinkles and sagging. Polynucleotides promote the production of collagen and elastin by stimulating the fibroblasts, increases hydration, reduces pigmentation, and has antioxidant properties. This helps to reduce the signs of aging.
What are the benefits?
· Enhances skin quality and texture
· Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
· Boosts hydration through enhanced hyaluronic acid production
· Diminishes pigmentation and dark circles
· Improves the appearance of scarring
· Exhibits anti-inflammatory properties which can help with conditions such as rosacea

Areas which can be treated include areas such as the face including under the eyes, neck, décolletage and the scalp.
For optimal results, at least three sessions are recommended, ideally three weeks apart. A maintenance session is required approximately 6-9 months depending on individual factors such as lifestyle, age, diet and use of sunbeds etc.
Results vary between patients, but results are usually visible by 3-4 weeks after the first treatment.
Is there any downtime?
After the treatment, there can be small bumps at the injection sites which generally disappear within 24 to 48 hours. As with any injectable treatment, there may be some temporary bruising, redness, and swelling. There is a small risk of infection which can be minimised with good aftercare eg avoiding touching or washing area for at least 4 hours and avoid wearing make up for 12 hours.
Is the treatment painful?
To reduce discomfort, numbing cream is applied before the procedure.
Can Polynucleotides be used alongside other treatments?
Polynucleotides can be used to rejuvenate the skin alongside other injectables such as anti-wrinkle treatments, skinboosters or dermal fillers. They can also be used to prime the skin before treatments such a lasers or chemical peels to help improve the effects of the treatment and reduce the downtime.
How are Polynucleotides different to Dermal Fillers or Skinboosters?
While both polynucleotides provide hydration, skinboosters do not have a regenerative effect. Dermal fillers can provide volume whilst polynucleotides do not. Polynucelotides are good treatment option for patients who want to improve their skin quality without adding volume. In addition, the result of dermal fillers can be noticed immediately but results from polynucleotides can take weeks.
Who is not suitable for treatment?
· Pregnant or breastfeeding
· Active skin infection/herpes infection in the area of treatment
· Fish allergy- may require patch test before treatment
· Previous or ongoing or autoimmune disease
· Hypersensitivity or Allergy to polynucleotide products

Dr Oteri uses the renowned brands Plinest and Newest for Polynucleotide treatments. Plinest Eye is specifically tailored for the delicate eye area, while Plinest can be applied to various regions. Newest combines polynucleotides with hyaluronic acid, offering regenerative effects along with skin hydration and plumping.
